All of our puppies come with a genetic health guarntee for the first year. You will need to take the puppy to the vet within a week of pickup.  Our puppies have had their first shot, been vet checked and are dewormed at the time of pickup. We prefer that you come pick up your puppy but we can meet you part way when needed

Care of your Goldador

Socializing
It is important for your new puppy to experience a large range of different people, animals and places. The more varied the experiences,  the better balanced your puppy will be as an adult. Once your veterinarian gives you the go ahead, take your puppy to the park, hiking, biking or to hang out with friends.

Grooming
Goldadors will shed just like a lab or golden so it is important to brush them at least once a week to keep their coat in the best shape possible.
Because of the shape of their ears, Goldadors are prone to ear infections. It is important to keep their ears clean and check them periodicaly for signs of infection.
You will also need to clip their nails. If you can hear your dog's nails clicking on the floor it is time to trim them or have them trimed.
Make grooming a positive experience by praising your puppy and giving treats as positive reinforcement. You will also make it easier for yourself and groomers/vets if you periodicaly look at its teeth, ears and feet to help your puppy become used to these sensitive areas being touched.

Exercise
Goldadors do best in a home with a fenced yard but they can thrive anywhere even in an apartment. Your new puppy will need at least 30 minutes each day in vigorous activity. There will be less bad behaviour from your puppy if it gets enough exercise.

Training
Your new puppy will do best with plenty of mental stimulus.  It is a good idea to teach them how to fetch or do some other tricks. Goldadors are generally easy to train and do best with positive reinforcement training. They want to please you above almost anything else so you need to be careful not to be harsh with them.
You will want to make sure to have chewable toys on hand as puppies love to chew. You will also want to keep treats on hand to help with training and grooming.

Feeding
You will need to feed your dog between 3.5 and 4.25 cups of dog food daily. It is best to divide it up between two meals a day. Keep an eye on your dog,  feeding is not one size fits all. If your dog is very active it will need more food in a day. If your dog is more sedentary you will feed it less in a day.
When changing dog food brands mix the old with the new over a week, gradually add more new food daily until that is all that you are feeding.
